SUMMER INTENSIVE COURSE – JULIO ABIERTO – 2017
The intensive course is orientated to people that desire to learn or to improve their command of Spanish in July enjoying the multicultural atmosphere.
JULIO ABIERTO Intensive Summer Course is a unique opportunity to make a linguistic immersion in the Spanish language and culture whereby linguistics competences are improved in an environment of multicultural coexistence.
A course orientated to students of any level that desire to improve rapidly their command of Spanish enjoying while learning, exploring the World Heritage City of Toledo and its environment, and meanwhile sharing experiences with people all over the World.

PROGRAMME DATES - GENERAL FEATURES
Intensive Summer Courses are available for foreign people older than 18 years with different formative profiles (students, graduated and professionals). Previous academic requisites are not required.
The course admits students of any level, from a beginner level (A1) to an advanced level (C1-C2).
One of the main characteristics of this course is the diverse arrangement of students from a wide variety of countries such as USA, Brazil, China, Germany, Egypt, Senegal, France, Turkey, Poland or Lebanon. It contributes to create an atmosphere of multiple geographical, religious, or cultural realities gathered by their interest for the Spanish language.
The first day of the course, the student will take a language test following the patterns of The Common European framework for languages (MCER) in which he will be assigned a group according to his level.
- The course may impart every level according to the number of students and groups
- The lower number of students per class is 13 in order to favour the relation and group working tasks.
SUBJECTS AND TEACHING HOURS
- Levels A1-A2-B1-B2-C1
- 20 teaching hours per week (a whole of 80 hours)
- Hourly distribution of subjects:
- Learning and practice of Spanish grammar (6 hours)
- Communicative practices: oral and listening skills (6 hours)
- Written Spanish: Reading comprehension and composition of texts (6 hours)
- Phonological competence (2 hours)
Students also have supporting tutorials for the clarification of doubts, out of lessons time.

WHERE ARE THE LESSONS IMPARTED?
Studying Spanish language and culture is an academic and personal experience that may and should spread outside the classroom.
ESTO Programme of the University of Castilla-La Mancha imparts its Spanish courses inside the UCLM facilities, in the historic centre of Toledo.
An exceptional experience in which the student will be able to study Spanish inside University buildings that are World Heritage Sites and part of the Spanish history. These buildings are practical and technologically adapted to have a comfortable and modern use.
NON-ACADMIC AND CULTURE TRAINING
The Intensive Summer Courses include 10 non-university activities which are linked to the city of Toledo and have a high cultural impact over the students. It supports the students regarding their academic activity.
- Toledo Touristic train or bus.
- Visit to The Convent of San Pedro Martir.
- Visit to the Primada Cathedral and The Cristo de la Luz Mosque.
- Visit to the Jewish Toledo: Santa María la Blanca Synagogem y Sefardic Museum.
- San Juan de los Reyes Monastery.
- El Greco: the Greek of Toledo: Santo Tomé museum and church.
- Unknown Heritage Routes.
- Toledo Night Tour.
- Also Spanish educational cinema sessions.
- Spanish dance lessons.
- Excursions (optional).
The excursions out of Toledo even though offered in the course package are optional and carried out on Saturdays in order not to interfere in the academic program.
The course offers two excursions: Valsaín (Segovia) y Candelera (Ávila): Sierra de Gredos.
ESTO Programme offers Family accomodation or Collegue Dorms for this course.
- Through the program "Toledo Acoge", families from the city offer a unique opportunity to approach our culture and to enrich their language inside a Spanish home.
- The Collegue Dorm enforces the coexistence and friendship among students from different countries.

EVALUATION TESTS AND COURSE CERTIFICATION.
The student will carry out a final exam which will determine the level of formative consecution. This mark will be complemented with the student participation, assistance, and attitude during the course.
At the end of the course, students over an 80% of the minimum required assistance will get a certificate by the Spanish Programme in Toledo of the University of Castilla-La Mancha. This certificate shows the final mark of the student and his language level according to the MCER levels.
In the case of necessity, the certification could also include additional information in order to recognize the course by the student’s origin institution through a collaboration agreement between both institutions.
FEE FOR INDIVIDUAL STUDENTS
FEE FOR GROUPS (+ 13 students)
Groups (+ 13 students) have an additional services package not available for individual students such as round trip to Barajas airport, transfer of luggage and accommodation and meals for a supervising teacher.
Some services could be also personalized for groups as well as the academic orientation could be redesigned in order to adapt some subjects to the specific necessities of the group.
